Smile Precure: Cure Happy S.H. Figuarts Review

Happy's packaging is absolutely stunning, as all in the Smile Precure line are! You can really tell how much the series has grown from the Precure 5 boxes to now.

    Now onto the figure itself!

(Not including basic pairs) Happy comes with 3 pairs of hands, 3 expressions, a neck joint, as well as the beloved Candy. Additionally, she comes with the standard S.H. Figuarts stand that has her name and series printed on the base.

I do think Happy's accessories fall a bit short. Upon initial viewing, it seems as if there's very little included; especially in comparison to Sunny and March who have a plethora of exchangeable hands. I would have liked to see her come with a smile pack as well as an extra pair of hands at least to compensate for one pair being glued together.

Accessory Score: 3/5

Credit will be given where it is due; the Smile figures are absolutely beautiful, a huge step-up from previous figures in the franchise and as I've read, where many consider them to "start being good". The sculpting of the figures is very detailed and solid, in fact too solid. All of the Smile figures, excluding. Sunny, suffer from their big-hair being solid PVC; thus weighing them down significantly.

My Happy figure has a slight painting error, but this won't be deducted in any category as it seems to be a manufacturing issue that isn't present on a larger scale.

Happy has some great articulation! As stated, the hair does weigh her down, but it's not as significant as some of the others. Pigtails are pose-able on a ball joint, shoulder-pads are adjustable, standard figure points (neck, arms, legs, etc). Her legs are hindered by the skirt, but that's always a given when skirts are involved. Overall, Happy can be put in an extensive variety of dynamic poses.

My last critique of the Happy figure is the face. The face isn't bad by any means, but I find that except for the flushed look it doesn't exactly feel like the character. It doesn't radiate the accuracy that Peace exudes. This is why I deducted the score.

Sculpt Score: 5/5

Articulation Score: 4/5

Accuracy Score: 4/5

Final Thoughts

For the leader of the Smile cures, Happy's figure is a great median representation. She's adorable, definitely gives the same energy as her TV-counterpart (excluding face), and can be made to fit some expressive action! I'd definitely recommend picking her up if you're a fan of the series like myself.

Overall Score: 4.2/5
